An ordinary Joe on a failing first date, must improvise a fantastic fable about the Wild West origins of the California Roll.

After 40 years of her father's estrangement from his hometown in Colombia, the filmmaker goes to visit her distant relatives and deals with issues such as assimilation, internalized racism, and biracialism. It's a personal journey exploring her family's disconnect to a place they left in the past, a place she hopes to make a part of her living present.

Vance convinces Mitchell into coming along with him, as they set out on a hilarious and eye opening quest to get the autographs of the four Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Along the way they learn a few things about what is REALLY important in life.
