Warnings from US strategist Kissinger (Dov Glickman) bounce off him. Chancellor Kohl (Sascha Nathan) knows how to use Herrhausen wisely. He ignores his wife Traudl's (Julia Koschitz) concerns about his health and safety.

Why did Alfred Herrhausen become the target of his murderers? Was it his push for debt relief for developing countries or was it his push for globalization? The banker was involved in national and international politics. He stood for the close ties between banks and large-scale industry. Herrhausen was a political friend of Chancellor Kohl and traveled to Moscow and Budapest on his behalf. As a result, billions of dollars in loans were made available to the bankrupt states of the Eastern Bloc, and in the end the Iron Curtain fell. Herrhausen resolutely opposed opponents and competitors. He did not escape the assassination attempt. Who was this man whose actions attracted deadly hatred?
