Heroes of the Sky: The Mighty Eighth Air Force

Computer animation, historical documents, archive film, and other media help recreate July 20 1944, the day Hitler's generals attempted to assassinate him.

During 1944-1946 more than 480,000 Ukrainians had been forced to leave the territory of modern northeastern Poland - Kholmshchyna, Nadsiannia, Pidliashshia, and Lemkivshchyna. The eyewitness tells the story of deportation and recalls terrible conditions in which she and other Ukrainians were taken from Poland to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Seven New Zealand women speak about their lives during World War II: some lost husbands, some got married, some went into service themselves. The director lets the women tell their stories simply, alternating between them talking and archival footage of the war years.

At the age of sixty, he decided to separate from his wife and children and lived alone for 20 years. He missed all those years wasted in wartime when he was young, at the same time, he had no idea how his eventful life would come to an end...
