Summary Michelle explores expressions of love and sources of feelings of loss and loneliness in her film 'Hello Detroit'. While these expressions are recounted she cycles through imagery in an attempt to represent a cycle of rebirth although the objects of the memories, and many of the places, are long gone. The everyday memories of an earlier time, when her family members first immigrated to Detroit from Europe, develop through the unedited dialog of her subjects and build into a deeper picture of the siblings coming to terms with their identities.
