In the mishmash Amsterdam of Heinz the fantastical and the mundane happily co-exist: witches mix with door-to-door-salesmen, creepy aliens with committed stamp collectors. Animals behave as people. Or don't. Speak. Or don't. Or do, thanks to the latest invention. Anything goes. Heinz has semi-permanently crashed on the couch of his friend Frits and the brilliant Professor Ape. One day, Heinz' steady squeeze Dolly asks him to babysit their son Little Beaver. Things go well, for an hour or so. Then Heinz gets into a huge tiff with Frits and Ape. They kick him out, together with his pride and joy. Next morning, Heinz wakes up in a strange bed. In the Amsterdam Enchanted Forest. No trace of Little Beaver. Heinz has no idea what happened to him. But everyone he encounters remembers him all too well. And has some beef with him. Soon, he is chased by angry gnomes and fuming philatelists.
