Then we meet a British Columbian girl that has become more mobile and outgoing from the help of a dog. We meet a single father who is bringing joy to his autistic son by giving him an aquatic adventure he'll never forget. Then we visit Canadian occupational therapists at two Florida-based dolphin-human therapy facilities that are helping people cope with serious physical and emotional problems through the use of trained dolphins.

A Campbell River, B.C., man, who had advanced prostate cancer and has suffered extreme pain from radiation treatments, has found a miraculous new lease on life from a pain-relieving cat that is also credited with ridding him of the cancer. In San Bernardino, California, we meet a dog that had been set on fire by teenagers when she was younger. She is helping a female burn survivor cope with her own pain and disfigurement.

Troubled Youth
In Calgary, Alberta, a self-mutilating, diabetic teenager has turned her life around because of a growing bond with a horse that was saved from the glue factory. At a rural facility for troubled and delinquent youth near New York City, several young misfits are in a unique wildlife rehabilitation program. While they are learning to care for others, they also help rehabilitate the wild animals at a nearby wildlife conservation center.

An Alberta girl competes in a therapeutic horse riding show with an equine friend. A boy from Ohio competes in a Special Olympics golf tournament, with help from every golfer's dream dog. Both have Down syndrome and both have been able to overcome many disadvantages of their disability through their bond with these animals.

We meet two very charismatic llamas that are bringing joy into the lives of residents in a Vancouver Island retirement home. Then we visit a Surrey, B.C., retirement home where several live-in animals - dogs, cats and birds - are perking up the residents. We also meet a cockatiel that brings a retired logger out of depression.

We meet a blind Pincher Creek, Alberta, man who has a special relationship with his extremely intelligent standard poodle guide dog that helps him get around town easily. We also meet a riding champion who has recently gone blind and is able to continue her competitive riding. The close bond with her horse and the use of special electronic guiding equipment helps her compete.

We visit a Vancouver hospital palliative care unit to meet a paraplegic miniature poodle that comforts seriously ill and dying patients. Then, we visit a severely disabled boy who has a fascination with snakes and other creepy-crawlers who finds great pleasure in spending his bed-ridden days with these animals.
