Two friends decide to visit friends who left Armenia since long in search of happiness and their own better welfare.

Mehmet Umut, a Turkish immigrant, lives in Cologne with his wife and his little son. After his residence permit expired, on an early morning he is roused from his sleep and taken into custody by the police. He is deported to Turkey on the same day. His family stays behind, terrified and helpless.

Through burnt turkeys and uncomfortable conversations, she discovers unsettling things about her grandfather, Bill, as she suspects him of knowing more about her Aunt's death than he lets on. As she knows that Thanksgiving day comes and goes, she soon finds that for her family, so does murder.
