The once rich and influential De La Quintana family lives now in a humble neighborhood outside Lima, Peru. Doña Josefina, the grandmother, is unable to forget the past and has spoiled her grandchildren by instilling in them illusions of grandeur and too much pride. Through a series of confusions and misunderstandings, Alejandro believes Maria Emilia is his dad's lover. In a jealousy attack, he takes Maria Emilia by force and then realizes she was still pure and had never lied to him. But it is too late. It will be long before she forgets him and they can live their dream together.
