After getting mocked in Toronto for being a Chinese social worker trying to help Canadian youth, Sandy returns to Hong Kong and gets a job at a girls' home where she has to take on four troublesome cases.

Husband Jacob handles all the challenges alone, refusing to allow God to help. His wife, Kayla, a strong believer tries to help overcome both of their problems and lead him in the direction of Faith. With their close knit community along with family, friends and the church, Jacob and Kayla will find the love and support they need.

The events take place in the fall of 2013 after the curfew decision in Egypt, where Fatin is released from prison after spending 20 years for committing a horrific crime. As she's forced to spend the night with her daughter Layla, who subject her to a second trial in search of unanswered questions.

Entrusted by her father with an unfinished book he was working on before his trip, the young woman becomes engaged in a power struggle over the material with her estranged stepmother. Suspiciously befriended by a journalist in the midst of the crisis, the young woman ultimately learns that no one is to be trusted - as her father's work is of interest to the intelligence departments of several countries.
