How would you feel if you were a hard-working mum with no time to pamper yourself and you were suddenly given a thousand pounds for new clothes and a whole new look? Sounds like heaven? Well, there's just one catch... You have to put yourself at the mercy of your daughter and accept whatever new style SHE comes up with. That's the basis for MAKEOVER MUM. A different North East mum is transformed in each programme and given a whole new image devised by her daughter. Helping the children to give their mums that brand new look is the MAKEOVER MUM style team - clothes expert and style journalist GLEN CAMPBELL, top Teesside hair stylist TONY GALLAGHER and North East makeup artist MEL SCOTT. The daughters range in age from eight to 16 and can do exactly what they want to their mum! The daughters all have different reasons for nominating their mothers - 12 year old Penny hates her mum's black, dingy outfits and jet-black hair; nine year old Hannah thinks her mum wears too many stripy tops, while 15 year old Minty is fed up with her mum looking drab and boring, and nine year old Amy wants her mum to have long curly hair and a bit more glamour. All the mums have one thing in common - they're all just a bit embarrassing to be seen out with! And they all have to agree to the same thing - to accept whatever new look their daughters come up with.
