Are there still living Great war witnesses? Starting from this question, a few years ago, a search trough Italy started, collecting the voices of the children who lived through that conflict. At the age of over 100 years old they have recounted their memories in front of the camera, retracting experiences and anecdotes from their childhood. At the end of the research, in 2020, their memories were collected in the book "The last ones, the memories of living witnesses of the First World War one hundred years after the end. But the written paper did not make justice to their faces, their looks and their memories, so detailed that it seemed to relive the drama of the war with them. So was born the idea of making a film that collects some of their stories, reconstructing the war moment by moment, which for the children of the time meant above all being refugees and living close to the front. Some of the protagonists' lived experiences were then staged, looking for the places where they spent their childhood and re-enacting their vicissitudes thanks to some historical actors.
