Smart Kitchen video illustrates an augmented reality tele-guided kitchen for seniors. Our approach combines remote assistant, tele-guidance system, motion sensors, RFID technology (tags and readers), visual prompts, touch screen, data projectors, and wide angle cameras. Major benefits for seniors are independent life at home longer, help with daily routines, increased safety, and help to maintain an active mindset. Smart Kitchen is specially targeted for elderly people who suffer from various degrees of memory impairment. The number of elderly who live alone grows and the older they get, the more assistance they require. This phenomenon is common across the developed world. This video was produced by a multi-national student group at University of Oulu, Finland. Production has been financially supported by Academy of Finland and TEKES.
