This event takes place hundreds of year in the future from the time period of Shadow Generations. After everyone dies they get reincarnated, repeating their lives with each life being reenacted as a pretty much 1-1 replica with slight differences. However, now that Satan destroyed heaven, even after learning about their reincarnations, our gangs last life now counts. In season 1, Satan spreads darkness across all of life once he corrupts all the angels including their goddess, Palutena. However, he corrupts all except for one, a boy named Pit. Pit is attacked by his brothers and his now EX commander, commander Light in episode 0. This leads him to escape before fainting at earth's arrival due to exhaustion. The master emerald is acting off, and Shadow the Hedgehog is surprisingly the most well aware of the situation at first. Eventually, our gang Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails the Fox, Knuckles the Echidna, and Shadow the Hedgehog become the destined heroes of all life, fighting off the darkness. They meet pit very early on, and from then on out they try to grow their expanding family bigger, with the fate of the universe at their hands. This is in addition to ancient beings being implemented into the chaotic events behind the scenes, such as ??? the Dark, and ??? the Hedgehog. In season 2, Satan's brother Kazuya is furious with the demise of Satan himself. With him being much more crazy, he genuinely "plays with his food." He sends Sonic to earth 2 vanishing him there hoping Tails finds away to get him out so they all individually grow stronger in their journey of doing so. (So Kazuya can have a greater challenge, more pleasure, and so on.) Along the way ??? comes along to unintentionally put on a show for Kazuya. He gives Pit, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, and so on a gift they'll never forget (especially Knuckles) It is at this time Tails brings Sonic back home before more damage can be done, leading to Sonic making their new threat come to his senses, gaining a new teammate in their fight that matters most. Even more sacrifices were then made, but eventually they gain the milestone of defeating the 2 biggest evils in existence.
