Før Cannae

Summary It was 216 BC, the night before the historic battle of Cannae, Italy, where Phoenician general Hannibal defeated the Romans, though his army was far inferior in numbers. In the shelter of the night, Roman general Fabius Maximus paid an unofficial (fictitious) visit to Hannibal's camp to speak peace - and a short, intense word duel with great linguistic and rhetorical quality from both parties took place. The two main characters often paraphrased to Churchill and Hitler during WWIII. TV adaptation of Munk's 1943 one-act play with a clear position against dictatorship. View more details
