A bump in the road sends two store fish best friends (adventurous BZ and nervous I.M. Tiger) flying out of a car window and into a strange Pond. They accidentally save the life of Jam (a precocious Neon Tetra) from a teleporting fish named Poofer. Grateful, she takes them to her secret hometown of Blue Zoo, which is in the midst of a huge Findependence Day celebration. The festivities come to an abrupt halt when Jam's new friends unintentionally release Bolo, a generations-old threat that wreaks havoc on the town.

The town of Blue Zoo work double time to defend itself against Bolo. Meanwhile, the Trio must come together to find a unique way to stop the Great Beast that involves turning an enemy into a friend. The story ends with BZ and I.M. Tiger finding a new home while the other Great Beasts in town get mysteriously released in the process.

Jam's plans to take BZ and I.M. Tiger on a tour of Blue Zoo get interrupted by Sheriff Alpha who has the town on red alert after The Great Beasts got released. Ange calms the confrontation down by sending The Trio on a low-stakes mission to get ingredients to a recipe she needs, which gets out of control when they end up lost in The Marshy Maze and unknowingly draw the attention of Zinker, a Great Beast.

After BZ gets lectured by Sheriff Alpha for a prank, he sets off to prove the Sheriff wrong by replicating one of his old feats of bravery. BZ heads off into the spooky ghost town of Nost- Algae to steal a tail scale from Von Kutcha, a Great Beast with an icy personality. Does BZ have what it takes to face danger by himself? Or has his adventurous side gotten the better of him?

After nervous I.M. Tiger becomes scared that he'll end up just like the town weirdo Cory, he sets out to reinvent himself before it's too late. He decides to become "The New Tiger" and meets with some of the Grown-Ups in town to figure out how to stop freaking out all the time. Hilarity ensues as Tiger heeds bad advice on his way to discover he's perfect just the way he is. Meanwhile, The Great Beasts hatch a plan.

The Trio is tired of not being taken as seriously as the Grown-Ups after the town imposes a new curfew law on Sprats. With the help of Mr. T Tanic's Dream Bubble, they devise a plan to get their powers early by drawing in Zinker (the sneakiest of The Great Beasts) and following him to a secret castle of a wizard who grants powers.

As The Trio follows Zinker further and further into the The Lunarbalk Forest, narrowly evading danger at every turn, the Grown-Ups of Blue Zoo realize they were too hard on them and form a Search Party to find them and make amends. While this happens, the Sprats are cornered by hungry Zinker. Will they make it to the wizard's castle or become Zinker's dinner?

The Trio make it to Melloo's Castle. But getting powers isn't going to be as easy as they think. Melloo puts them through a series of mind- bending tests before finally granting their wish. BZ, I.M. Tiger, and Jam each get powers (copies of Sheriff Alpha, Cory, and Ange's powers respectively) and journey back home, triumphant, as Melloo whispers overhead "be careful what you wish for..."

The Trio arrive back in Blue Zoo ready to show off their powers when they discover that The Great Beasts have taken over and everyone in town has been frozen into icy statues by Von Kutcha. Through Mr. T Tanic's Dream Bubble, they learn that they didn't get powers - they stole powers. The Trio get captured by The Great Beasts and learn the dark truth about one of the Grown- Ups.

S1.E10 ∙ Beastie Battle

The climactic final chapter of the first season concludes with a showdown between The Trio and their new powers versus The Great Beasts. However, their new powers aren't enough, so they have to use their brains as well as their brawn in an epic battle through Blue Zoo. The tides are turned when Bolo joins their side, The Great Beasts escape, and Deputy Alpha is cast out of town forever. The season ends with The Trio cleaning up the mess they made before getting sucked into a pebble portal towards another adventure.
