The war began. Irka is experiencing a nightmare raiding the hospital where she works. Ewka is released from the prison where she was serving her sentence for theft. Marysia, the daughter of a wealthy Jewish entrepreneur from Lodz, escapes from the ghetto and comes to Warsaw to collect the money raised by her father, but a trusted banker robs her family.
