Carthago comes out of the temporal fog on a small very agitated river which winds in the middle of the arid mountains. Suddenly, they fail on a sandbank and are attacked by strange nomads dressed in turbans. Sefrou appears to Sedik at the back of the ship: "he tells her that these nomads have a secret that they will have to discover and that can save their lives". In the middle of the Baquates tribe in Libya, they will discover Livia, an ancestral herb that heals Cid for the deadly desert fever caused by the sting of the Tsé Tsé fly.

Carthago arises in a small port along a steep coast: high up, a hilltop town, nestled on a rocky outcrop like a jewel in a jewel case, dominated by an acropolis with temples.
