Tamahiko's father, Tamayoshi, sends a letter that two of of Tamahiko's siblings have been offered marriage and to protect their prospects, Tamayoshi has declared that Tamahiko is dead. Later, Tamahiko and Yuzuki take a trip to Tokyo.
Tamako's cold demeanor towards Tamahiko and Yuzuki sends him into another sullen state. To cheer him up, Yuzuki takes him on a walk around the area to appreciate the beauty of the country.
As September 1st arrives, Tamako leaves for Kobe to begin her studying to become a doctor. That same day, Yuzu and Tamahiko go shopping in the village together.
The famous singer, Kotori Shiratori, comes to town and gives a small concert for the villagers. Later, Tamahiko re-enrolls in school and meets Hakaru Shiratori, the twin brother of Kotori.
Yuzu receives a letter from her old friend and classmate, Mitori, announcing her marriage and that she'll be leaving Tokyo for Kyushu and Yuzu decides to go to Tokyo to see Mitori one last time.
