Humanity 100,000 Years Ago - Life in the Paleolithic
100,000 years ago there were six human species roaming around Africa and southern Eurasia compared to just one today, us. There may have been more. At this time they were still fighting off predators and malnutrition while suffering hunting injuries. The species were graduating from stone tools to specialized tools carved from bone. Artistic expression was increasing in the form of jewelry and painting. Burial practices suggest their societies were caring.

Are Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals the Same Species?
Species is hard to define. Homo Sapiens and Neanderthal are distinctly different anatomically. But if you prefer the definition based on interbreeding then they are the same species. Still no Neanderthal mitochondrial DNA has been found in Sapiens suggesting male Sapiens - female Neanderthal hybrids might not be fertile and hence at least becoming different species. Then there's Denisovans that interbred with both Sapiens and Neaderthals.
