Shinjuro Tateoka, the teenage son of master swordsman Tesshusai Tateoka, finds himself in charge of his father's dojo when his father leaves on an urgent trip with no idea when he will return.
Shinjuro learns that Mahoro Mikage, a rogue samurai, stole a powerful sword from the Tokugawa shogunate and plans to use it to overthrow the shogunate. When the shogunate asks Shinjuro for help, he finds himself having to fight for his dojo, his honor, and his life.
