The man who rented the boat with which Gilbert was kidnapped is called Pietro Tomà and he grew up in an orphanage. With the help of Daniele, Elena sneaks into his house.
When Daniele and Elena arrive at Pietro Tomà's home, all they find is his dead body. In the meantime, Angelo has managed to escape from the farmhouse but cannot go far because he is blocked by his tormentor.
In the farmhouse, Elena discovers that many children kidnapped in recent years have been held prisoners there and talks to one who tells the story of Andrea, his jailer.
While Elena is in the hospital, Daniele and his men discover where Andrea has taken refuge. However, Andrea manages to escape again and seeks refuge from what he believes to be his Master.
Elena and Daniele reconstruct the dramatic story of the abuses that were perpetrated in the orphanage. The suspicion that yesterday's paedophiles are the same ones who still act today through the infamous network becomes certain.
