Max teaches Zac duplicating spell but he falls short. Leo tells him that he and some guys are going on camping trip and all he needs is a bike which he can rent for 80 dollars but he only has 10. So he uses the duplicating spell Max taught him to duplicate his 10 dollar bill. But he left a bill lying around which is still under the spell and it continues to duplicate. And the man whom he rented the bike from notices that the serial numbers are the same. So the man approaches Max to tell him about it. Max handles him and then sets out to teach Zac a lesson.
Miss Millman invites Mr. Merlin to a party for model Jessie Taylor. Merlin doesn't want to go, but Zac certainly does. He bets his school friends that he and Leo can get in, and uses Starsand to conjure up fancy clothes and a car. Unfortunately, he forgets to wash his hands afterwards.
Leo insists that he and Zac get a manager for their music act. Mr. Merlin reluctantly helps them financially and dubs their act "The Hot Pinkheads". But he suspects the manager Robert Denbark and his assistant Jenny have ulterior motives and decides to investigate.
Zac is dating cheerleader Sheila. Mr. Merlin substitutes as coach for the Mumford Mohawks basketball team. But something is bothering Leo, and he refuses to confide in Zac nor Mr. Merlin.
Zac needed to be in two places at the same time so he created an identical double of himself. What he didn't know was that he created an evil version of himself. When he learns of what he did and tries to get rid of him, he can't because the evil version of himself is stronger than him. So it's up to Max, but first he has to find out which is the real Zac.
When Zac uses one of Max's books to write a school paper. What he didn't know is that he wrote down Max's formula for turning lead into to gold which the teacher discovers and is interested in where Zac got it. Zac learns that if Max's secret ever got out, he would lose everything. So Max arranges for the man to meet him and he discovers that the man is a fan.
Crazy Mike Wallshime tries to beat up Zac for surpassing his high score, but Zac uses teleportation to come out victorious. He quickly gains a reputation as an undefeatable fighter, but then Merlin takes away his powers.
Max needs his tonsils to be removed, and the only available bed is in the children's ward. Leo urges Zac to ask if he can borrow's Mr. Merlin's car to take two girls to the drive-in.
Zac wants to try out for the school play to impress a girl, but his acting is terrible. He tries using a magic spell to make everyone see him as an amazing actor.
Alex loses her ability to go anywhere or "pop" as she refers to it. So Max tries to restore it. But it somehow ends up in Leo who finds going to places far away.
Zac tries to find the perfect date to the school dance, playing on multiple girls, while Leo can't find any date. Alex and Mr. Merlin use magic to teach Zac a lesson and to give Leo the attention he lacks.
Leo and Zac are looking for the next big thing to get rich quick. Zac remembers Mr. Merlin recently threw away an Impossible Puzzle that he created for Galileo.
A foreign gymnast comes to San Francisco for a competition. Now she's frustrated with her coach's strict program, she runs away. She runs into Zac and they bond. Later her coach finds her and takes her back. Zac feels sorry for her, so he and Max go to her training session and Max convinces her coach to let Zac spend an hour with her which Zac makes full use of.
Tired of waiting for her boyfriend Harry to propose, Zac's mom decides to accept a job in New York and move there. Zac doesn't want to move, and Mr. Merlin tries to nudge Harry in the right direction.
Harry and Zac's mom are getting married and moving to Hawaii. Mr. Merlin is looking for a new apprentice. Alex comes up with a solution: if Zac moves in with Merlin, he can stay in San Francisco.
Alex' tarot cards predict that Zac's geometry test will turn out badly, as will his entire week. So, Zac refuses to defend the school's honor in a ping pong match. Then Luther presents a lucky amulet Merlin once gave to Napoleon.
Dink's hot dog stand has to make way for a new shopping center. Mr. Merlin offers to represent Dink and talk to the opposing lawyer, whom he ends up dating.
