The Grim Sleeper
In 2001, Los Angeles Police Department's cold case unit reopened the files on a series of unsolved murders from the 1980s. As police search for DNA evidence to unlock these homicides which occurred in the South Central Los Angeles area, they are stunned to discover a new victim 14 years after the last known murder. DNA evidence leads them to Lonnie David Franklin Jr., also known by the nickname 'The Grim Sleeper.' He was responsible for at least ten murders and one attempted murder in Los Angeles, California from 1985 to 2007. He was found guilty at his trial and received the death penalty. He eventually died of natural causes on March 28, 2020 in San Quentin State Prison, San Quentin, California.
