Michael Palin travels to Pamplona Spain for the annual Running of the Bulls festival and to Kenya where he encounters very large animals in the wild and joins park rangers in the search for poachers.
Palin travels to Chicago where he visits Hemingway's childhood home. In northern Michigan he tries his hand at bird hunting but only gets a sack full of clay pigeons and fly fishing where he only snags his guide. Then it is off to Italy to become a member of the Red Cross for a day then to play the part of an American in "Hemingway's Paris."
Michael travels to Key West and visits the room Hemingway stayed at La Concha Hotel. The man occupying the room believes it is haunted. - In Uganda Michael flies over the Murchison Falls and visits the site where Hemingway's airplane crashed. - In Venice Michael meets with Baron Congcreti, a member of the aristocracy who knew Hemingway.
Michael travels to Havana, Cuba to visit two museums: Room #511 at Ambos Mundos Hotel and his house. He interviews a 101 year old man who knew Hemingway. Finally, Palin goes to a Dude Ranch in Montana to do some Cattle punching and visit Hemingway's last home in Ketchum, Idaho where Hemingway commits suicide.
