Travis visits Snagov Monastery in an attempt to figure out if Vlad the Impaler is actually buried there. He locates the grave inside, but is unable to pry the lid off the tomb. Outside, on the monastery grounds, he finds some interesting things, but nothing that proves conclusively that Vlad the Impaler is buried at the site.

S1.E2 ∙ Sighisoara

Travis visits the medieval walled city of Sighisoara, Romania. The Vlad Dracul House is the location where Vlad the Impaler was born in 1428, and Travis goes inside in an attempt to find the actual spot where Vlad's mother gave birth. He also journeys into the only crypt in Transylvania, visit a medieval cathedral, and discover Sighisoara's beautifully preserved buildings and cemeteries.

Travis visits the site of Poenari Castle, often called "The Real Castle Dracula." He attempts to scale the mountain leading to the castle, but encounters a large European brown bear, and is turned back from the trail. While walking along the Arges River, searching for the site where Vlad the Impaler's princess threw herself to her death, he encounters another large brown bear.

Travis journeys to Tampa Hill, a forested area outside in the city of Brasov where Vlad the Impaler committed some of his worst atrocities, including dipping his bread in the blood of his victims. Travis hikes through the forest looking for the exact spot where the mass impaling occurred.

Travis visits Bran Castle, which is billed by the Romanian government as "Castle Dracula." However, during his journey, Travis discovers that the castle has no actual association with Vlad the Impaler and was probably never even visited by him. He declares the castle to be "Romania's biggest tourist trap."

Travis explores Targoviste Palace, the site of the capital of Wallachia during much of Vlad the Impaler's reign over the country. He climbs the imposing central watchtower, which was actually built by Vlad. Then the action goes to the basement of the palace, which is remarkably well preserved.

Travis explores Delau Monastery, the rumored location of Vlad Dracul's burial. After searching the entire site for any evidence of the burial, he is about to give up hope when he suddenly decides to rip up the carpet in the monastery. Under the carpet, Travis discovers several tombs buried in the floor, but translating the names on the stones becomes a challenge.

Travis journeys around the modern city of Bucharest, finding many traces of Vlad the Impaler throughout the city. In the National Museum, he examines a decree actually written by Vlad. Outside of Carol I Park, he visits a scale replica model of Poenari Castle which is only open to the public one day a year.
