A Tour of Earth's Ancient Superoceans
Rodinia and Pangea were super-continents formed when all the land masses of the Earth merged due to plate tectonics. If all the land merged so too did the oceans into super-oceans we call Merovia and Panthalassa. With no land masses to obstruct their global currents and huge circulatory systems spanning a hemisphere these oceans were likely far more turbulent than the oceans we now know.

What Was the
For a billion years before plants, insects, fish or any multi-cellular creatures existed life consisted of single celled organisms in the vast oceans. And for that billion years the earth was a remarkably geologically stable hot environment. Prokaryotes were the dominant life-form but eukaryotes existed in enclaves where they were changing, experimenting and evolving the genetics that would underpin the Cambrian explosion.
