The biker monster is condemned and cursed by politicians, citizens, and police. All means have been used to passivate the motorcycle gangs. At first, the bikers were enveloped by well-meaning educators who thought they were helping maladjusted young people with offers of meaningful leisure time in their own clubhouses. The rockers responded with hateful attacks on society. Today, as well-groomed Hells Angels, they want to be accepted by society despite convictions for murder and extensive drug crimes. Despite massive police efforts, the gangs have not been eradicated. Today's programme raises the question of whether this can be done within the framework of democracy.
