A young girl called Simone arrives in the city of Astrub, looking for Kerubim. Meanwhile, Kerubim's shop is visited by the famous adventurer Bob of Bonta.
Kerubim in entertaining a group of neighbors and Joris realizes he's using a laughing box. So Kerubim tells him and Simone the story about the time he decided to prove he can make Yech'ti laugh, a feat which has never been done before.
Simone has agreed to go to a ball, but now she is stressed about her inability do dance. Kerubim offers her a pair of magical ballet shoes, and tells her and Joris the story of how he got stuck in them during an important boufbowl game.
After being called a traitor by a former friend, Kerubim tells Joris the story of the time he was called to negotiate peace between two fleets of warships.
Kerubim is visited by his Pandawa friend, Zado. They tell the story about one of Kerubim's adventures, but each of them tells a different version of it.
