The first episode of a series is always difficult in trying to introduce the main characters and what the series is about. This episode spends a day with Dr Dangerfield with a number of incidents he attends as a Police Surgeon around Warwick and the surrounding area. A police officer is accused of assaulting a suspect and an unexplained death at a nursing home, as well as his "day job" as a GP.
A farmer is found dead from a shotgun blast and the obvious suspect is the worker he recently fired and who has a history of mental illness; all of this is made worse because the suspect's baby is seriously ill and Dangerfield's partner is accused of negligence.
Tempers flare at The Surgery, when Paul is called to assist The Police when a factory burns down, and later when an elderly lady causes trouble. Marty decides to take himself away.
Diane Foster is pressed to detail what happened to her, The Police call on the help of Doctor Joanna Stevens to persuade Diane to give evidence in court.
An Arial photographer spots a body inside the middle of a field. The man's wife believed he was at a conference in Norwich, Dangerfield tries to discover his real motive for being there.
