Edmond, one of the Keepers of Belovodye, is ambushed while travelling through the world of men. He is killed with the help of Dante's water, a substance lethal for wizards. The murder was ordered by Vigus who made a secret deal with the verits who want to destroy all keepers. Edmond's death breaks an ancient spell and an unknown evil is set free. Meanwhile Artur publishes a book.

Artur publishes a book about the search for the flower of the fern. This attracts the attention of Aurel, a collector of magic lore. Aurel is prepared to do anything to get the flower. He kidnaps Sasha and Artur while his associates capture Kirill. At the airport Kirill meets Maks, and they manage to escape together. They decide to fly out of a different airport but there is no time. Meanwhile mourning for Edmond is declared in Belovodye. No one suspects that Vigus is behind his murder. The death of Edmond breaks an ancient spell, and the secret he, Claudius and Stephania have been keeping for hundreds of years is out.

An ancient sepulchre containing a mysterious box is discovered on the grounds of a psychiatric clinic. One of the patients escapes with it, and an ancient evil is set free and brings death. Unbeknownst to the Council, Claudius and Stephania try to find the box and prevent the wizard from being set free. Vigus reads the ancient runes and learns that a great evil is coming. Billionaire Aurel, a collector of magic lore, searches for Kirill hoping that he will help him get the magic flower of the fern. Sasha and Artur remain his hostages. Aurel's henchmen capture Maks so that he would lead them to Kirill. Kirill involuntarily finds himself in the thick of things. he is hunted by Aurel, by the Keepers of Belovodye and by Vigus who begins his own game.

Aurel realizes that the fern is not going to bloom this year. Sasha and Artur manage to warn Raisa and Lika that they were taken hostage and they are being taken to the Altai to look for Arzhan. Maks disarms Dina and leaves her in the care of his friends in the taiga but she manages to escape. Knyazev, manipulated by an unknown wizard, gets into the Belovodye archives and steal the Sword of Demetrius to free Zerkalshchik. Vigus learns the secret Claudius, Stephania and Edmond have been hiding. Antonina realizes that Kirill is in danger and hides him. Kirill steals the key and escapes from the lighthouse.

The death of Edmond, one of the Keepers of Belovodye, destroys an ancient spell and an unknown evil is set loose. Vigus learns the secret that Claudius and Stephania have been keeping for six hundred years. Zerkalshchik begins to prepare to being set free. The Keepers feel threatened from all sides and decide to change the course of events. Kirill flees and finds himself in a winter forest where he nearly dies of cold. Meanwhile Maks is in a hurry to get to the airport to fly to his pregnant wife. Aurel has kidnapped Sasha and Artur and travels to the Altai Mountains to find Arzhan. The friends manage to warn Raisa and Lika about it. Sasha and Artur find a strange note. Kirill finally learns what the wizards of Belovodye want from him.

Naira tells Kirill that he will be made a Keeper but they are attacked by the verits. Kirill goes through a portal and finds himself in a bunker where he meets Choipel. A messenger of the Council orders to prepare Kirill for the purification ritual. Choipel fears they will be hunted and takes Kirill to a safe place. Knyazev is preparing to free Zerkalshchik. The Keepers decide to try Claudius and Stephania for breaking the ancient law and creating an imago in secret. They decide to seal the Chancellory Gates and prepare for battle. Maks is set free and flies to Barnaul. Sasha and Artur escape from Aurel and go to Karagaikha to warn Arzhan, but Aurel get there first. he captures Raisa and Lika hoping they will help him find the trackers' village. Vigus realized that he lost Kirill and decides to find a new conduit.

Vigus wants to find Kirill as soon as possible and summons Agapa. Maks takes his pregnant wife to a different hospital so that Dina doesn't find her. Aurel finds Arzhan and forces him to make contact with the Keepers. In Karagaikha Sasha and Artur witness a wounded Verona appears out of the portal. They go to fetch her bag and are stranded in the winter forest. After the shootout Kirill is found by Choipel and they leave for a safe place. Travis learns that Kirill is with Choipel. The Keepers decide to seal the gates that lead to Earth. Claudius is forced to destroy the last gates.

Following Travis's order Choipel conducts a purification ritual for Kirill. Kirill finds himself in the verits' camp. Their leader realizes that he is very important for Vigus and offers to exchange him for Argon's Scroll. Meanwhile Zerkalshchik is trying to get into Belovodye to pass through the other two lakes and get the power of the Originals. Rasmus promises to help him. Aurel tells Dina to find the doctor. Stephania allows him to go to Belovodye. Naira finds out that Verona is wounded. Verona wakes up and realizes that the magashka was in the bag she lost. Sasha and Artur find the doll and stay at Verona's house. Agapa finds Kirill.

Rasmus offers to Zerkalshchik to take him to the Source of Knowlege. Rasmus wants to take revenge on the Keepers and enters the Source. Naira asks Verona to become a Keeper again. On Stephania's order, Arzhan takes Aurel to Belovodye. They are joined by Maks and Dina. Maks manages to send a message. Sasha and Artur wait out a snowstorm in Verona's house and find themselves in the middle of a shootout between the warriors of Belovodye and the verits. Meanwhile Vigus sends Agapa to help Kirill. Agapa takes on Kirill's appearance to give him the opportunity to escape. The unsuspecting verits bring Agapa to their camp. The real Kirill get to the ruins where a portal is waiting for him. Zerkalshchik follows Kirill into the portal.

Unbeknownst to the Keepers, Vigus is leading Kirill to the Sitre. Escaping from the warriors of the Council, Sasha and Artur fall into the hands of the verits and find themselves in their camp. Sasha develops an escape plan. Aurel is trying to get into Belovodye. To find the pass to the Sitre Arzhan leads them to the source of living and dead water. Lika, Raisa and Lyonka are trying to find Svetka and protect her. Verona agrees to come back and accepts the Keeper's ring. Vigus makes a deal with Zerkalshchik. The verits capture Travis. Vigus meets Kirill and tells him that all this time he was being secretly tested.

Unbeknownst to the Keepers, Vigus is leading Kirill to Belovodye. The verits find the magashka, the magic doll they use to affect Kirill. Travis makes a deal with Gustav. Verona summons the Council. The Keepers prepare for the battle with Zerkalshchik who has been preparing his revenge for six hundred years. He promises to share power with Vigus in exchange for help against Stephania. The Keepers' forces attack the verits' camp. Now Kirill has to get to Belovodye to survive.

Vigus gives Agapa the last Scroll of Argon. With its help she will be able to create a gate into her world, Umbra. Verona tells Kirill that he is an imago, an intermediary, a pure soul that was supposed to get knowledge from the Source and pass it on to the Keepers. The warriors of the Keepers capture the verits' camp. Sasha manages to pull the pin out of Kirill's magoshka just in time.
