A helping hand: Inside Denmark's National Archives in the middle of the Queen's Copenhagen, national archivist Bertramsen is busy investigating whether King Christian actually stood at the high mast in the Battle of Fehmern. He is so busy that he has completely forgotten that it is December 1st. Archivist Guttenborg is also far too busy to think that the month of Christmas has begun. He is more concerned with finding a historical chess opponent who is not too skilled. Bertramsen is suddenly visited by the pretty Miss Brahe, who claims that she is his secretary. Guttenborg is surprised by a young goblin. His name is Pyrus and he has applied for work at the RIS archive.

Cool Christmas: Already from the morning, Bertramsen and Guttenborg get to feel the new times. Miss Brahe is just about to reveal Bertramsen's secret, namely that the national archivist lives in the National Archives. Pyrus shakes up the good Guttenborg by decorating for Christmas - elves don't usually do that. But Pyrus doesn't care. He has cut Christmas hearts out of old documents and believes that Christmas can be cool. Both Bertramsen and Guttenborg put their new "apprentices" to the test by finding books. During the rehearsal, Bertramsen sees Pyrus and thinks he has fallen ill, but Miss Brahe explains to him that he just saw a goblin. Guttenborg shows Pyrus how to conjure people out of and into Danish history.

Heavy reading: Pyrus practices conjuring, but it doesn't go so well. In return, Guttenborg offers rice bread, which Pyrus thinks is rice pudding. Miss Brahe entices Bertramsen with hot coffee and pretzels, but the national archivist seriously explains that the National Archives is a workplace and not a coffee club. A letter arrives from the queen requesting a report on Christmas traditions, and Bertramsen senses that the Knight's Cross is within reach. Pyrus, much to Guttenborg's chagrin, does not like to read books, he is more into the comic book with Juleman - the supersonic goblin. Pyrus tries to cast a spell again. This time it succeeds. The whole gnome village is now lying in ruins, and a confused girl appears.

Freya: Bertramsen and Miss Brahe have been up all night, and they have discovered that Christmas has disappeared from all historical books and documents. When Miss Brahe goes for morning bread, she finds out that the street's Christmas decorations and the shops' Christmas displays are gone. Christmas doesn't exist anymore. In pixies everyone is confused. Guttenborg asks the young girl who she is and where she comes from. But she can't remember anything. Pyrus and Guttenborg agree that she has fallen out of one of the books and decide to call her Freya. Now the elves' mission is to get Christmas back in the books, otherwise it won't be Christmas this year. They must travel through Danish history and begin in the Stone Age.

Mead: All the Christmas decorations in town are gone. The same is true of the beautiful Christmas hearts that Miss Brahe hung up in the National Archives' office. And now both Bertramsen and Brahe suddenly find it difficult to remember the word 'Christmas'. Bertramsen gets the brilliant idea to write Christmas with a red marker, but the letters fall off the paper. In Goblin's home, Freja is shocked that she might fade away before long. Pyrus and Guttenborg try to comfort her. The elves continue the hunt for Christmas, and this time they head to the Bronze Age. They meet a large and hairy viking who loves mead and is easy to swing the sword. He says he drinks Christmas. In the middle of the shelves, Bertramsen fights his own personal sword fight.

Asgard: Pyrus has a headache after drinking too much mead with Harald Hårfager. However, he perks up when Guttenborg serves real rice porridge. Bertramsen is hungry, and luckily Miss Brahe has pastry with her at work. Later, she is just about to lift Pyrus out of a dustbin and into the office, but luckily Pyrus escapes. The goblins think that Freya might be a goddess. To investigate it further, they go on a trip to Midgard, where they meet the giant Heimdal and the real goddess Freja. She captures the goblins, but Pyrus and the girl Freya appease the goddess with a love song. At the office, Bertramsen, with a hungry stomach, offers his pastry to appease the gods.

A Nickname: The city streets are still dull and empty. No cozy Christmas displays or busy people laden with brightly colored packages. Will it even be Christmas this year? In the National Archives, they work hard to get Christmas in time. Pyrus and Freja whip around to find the papers and documents that Guttenborg needs in his search for Christmas. At the office, Bertramsen sweats over all the other work that has to be done alongside the hunt for Christmas. Pyrus wants to impress Freya and casts a spell again. This time it results in Miss Brahe meeting a cruel viking named Svend out among the shelves. He gets easily irritated if you ask about his missing nickname.

The Cannon King: Bertramsen dreams that he is involved in a deadly naval battle. When he wakes up, he is surprised in nightwear by Miss Brahe. In the elf's home, Pyrus and Freja hold a sweeping contest with Bertramsen's discarded toothbrushes, and Guttenborg shows them how to shoot documents into place with a catapult. By mistake, Pyrus is shot into the office of the National Archives, so Freja has to be conjured to retrieve him. But when she gets Bertramsen to find the document where Pyrus was supposed to be, it is empty. Guttenborg is finding out what time Freja comes from, so maybe there is hope for her. Under one of the many books, Bertramsen spots something red. It looks a lot like a little hat.

Christmas weekend: Just as quietly, quite imperceptibly and without anyone thinking about it, Christmas slowly begins to return to the cityscape. Pyrus has found his beloved hat inside Bertramsen's office. With an ingenious device that Guttenborg cobbles together, they try to save the delicious, hypercodile hat. Bertramsen examines the time around King Valdemar, and this causes Miss Brahe to break out into "song of love" about three old kings. The three goblins travel this time to the year 1157, where they meet Denmark's greatest historian Saxo. He talks about the Christmas weekend, and in the middle of it all, Valdemar appears dressed as a Christmas goat. Valdemar is invited to the gnome's home.

Dannebrog: Now there are only two weeks until Christmas Eve. But no wish lists have been written yet, and no parents go shopping and look at gifts. Pyrus is happy in the gnome's home, because he gets rice porridge for breakfast. But the mood doesn't last long, when King Valdemar starts flirting with Freja. Pyrus gets jealous and tries to drag Valdemar around the archive. Freya turns out to be happy about Pyrus' jealousy. Bertramsen and Miss Brahe find out that King Valdemar brought rice home to Denmark. I wonder where he got it from? Bertramsen receives a large letter from the royal house and becomes nervous. When Guttenborg, to Pyrus' great relief, conjures the king back to his own time, the king does not get his seal. But when the goblins do their magic again, a completely different King Valdemar appears.

Marsk Pyrus: Pyrus is filled with poetic inspiration and writes a poem to Freya, in which the word rice pudding happens to be included. In the office, mail from the queen has arrived again, but this time she writes that she is satisfied with Bertramsen's work. The Knight's Cross is approaching. The letter is not the only mail to Bertramsen and Brahe. Two large packages turn out to contain a computer, which is to increase the efficiency of the National Archives. Bertramsen is offended and the computer does not work when they turn it on. The elves visit Queen Dowager Margrethe Sprænghest at Vordingborg, who is having trouble coming up with a Christmas present for her son - Erik Klipping. Maybe Guttenborg can help her out of the predicament.

Cyber Space: Bertramsen is sleeping over the computer when Miss Brahe enters the office door. He has been working all night and can now find information about any historical person in the machine. In Nissebo, Pyrus writes on a wish list several meters long. Most of all, he wants a computer. When Pyrus discovers that there is a computer in the office, he lures Freja on a trip behind the screen. Suddenly Freja is gone. It turns out that the witch Afskylia has taken her, but luckily Pyrus is helped by a nice little troll named Hugo. Bertramsen and Miss Brahe discover that the computer game does not work as it should. They set a virus killer in motion, which hunts Pyrus and Freya. Now only Guttenborg can save them.

Lussenatten: Guttenborg wakes Pyrus in the middle of the night between 12 and 13 December with a strange explanation that they are going to Vordingborg Castle again. But first Pyrus must hand the disk back to Bertramsen, who is sleeping soundly and dreaming of the Knight's Cross. The goblins visit another Margrethe, but this time it's Margrethe I, and they experience a beautiful Lucia procession. Unfortunately, Guttenborg loses his spellbook. Miss Brahe also lights her hair, and she finds Guttenborg's little book, which she shows to Bertramsen. He immediately begins to study it, but suddenly they are visited by a court jester.

Nikolaus: Freja reveals that she can both bake and knows what an elephant is like. Guttenborg believes that he will soon know where she comes from. Pyrus is more interested in Freja's skills as a baker. The mood in the National Archives office is good. Bertramsen and Miss Brahe decide to have a good time, and Brahe offers delicious home baked goods, which Bertramsen has a hard time keeping his fingers off. Pyrus and Guttenborg visit Christian I in the middle of Copenhagen. In the king's dark chambers, they come across a person dressed as - yes. Santa Claus. It turns out to be the king trying to entertain the family. It doesn't really work until Pyrus steps in to help with good advice and Freya's Christmas cake.

Christmas May: When Miss Brahe arrives at the National Archives in the morning, she is surprised by Santa Claus himself. It turns out to be Bertramsen in a disguise from the time of Christian I. In the gnome's home, Pyrus has been watching over the sick Freja all night. He is afraid that she is fading away. Guttenborg believes that it will help if she goes on a trip to Sønderborg Castle to visit Christian II. The king is locked up, but his mood is in good spirits, and maybe he can help the sloppy Freja. The king brews herbal tea from something he calls Christmas May. At the office, Bertramsen has been shot by a witch, and Miss Brahe offers to "break" his back.

Stella Nova: December 16 is cleaning day in the National Archives. Miss Brahe believes that Bertramsen needs exercise. His face takes on a healthy complexion under Brahe's knowledgeable but tough guidance on how to combine gymnastics and cleaning. Freja is inspired by the activities in the office and transforms the pixie house into a cleaning aerobics centre. When Guttenborg has regained his breath, they go to Uranienborg, where Tyge Brahe is looking at the stars. Pyrus can't help but laugh that Tyge is always unlucky and knocks his tools on the floor. But the famous stargazer knows something about the poinsettia.

An Eye for an Eye: When Pyrus wakes up in his pen house, he gets a shock. Freya is gone. Guttenborg tries to console, but Pyrus is crushed with grief. At the office, Bertramsen has forgotten to lock the door, and Miss Brahe discovers his 34-year-old secret. In return, she promises him a real home-cooked dinner later in the day. Fortunately, Freja has returned to the gnome's home, and Guttenborg invites Christian IV himself to breakfast. But he is far too busy beating the Swedes in a big naval battle, so he is sent back home. When he returns, he has a patch for his eye and a small gift of almonds. The king wants to inspect his buildings and meets a 10 meter tall Miss Brahe.

Model and meds: Guttenborg is worried. King Christian IV has decided to return and investigate whether his buildings are still beautiful and well maintained. But how are the three of them going to explain to the king that he can't just move around in today's Copenhagen. Bertramsen finds it difficult to fit his trousers after the good dinner at Miss Brahe's. Brahe suggests that he buy a microwave oven so that he can have hot food, but Bertramsen only has contempt left for that. In Nissebo, Christian IV has appeared, and with the help of a pile of tourist brochures, a puppet theater and a little extra magic, Guttenborg shows the king around Copenhagen.

The Christmas room: Pyrus provides coziness in the gnome's home. He arranges morning bread and candles, and Guttenborg wonders where the idea of enjoying yourself at Christmas comes from. Suddenly he thinks of who they can ask. Bertramsen sends Miss Brahe over to the royal library for Ludvig Holberg's writings about Christmas. She is also told to find a microwave cookbook. Bertramsen will be in charge of the dinner. The three from Nissebo look inside Ludvig Holberg's house and give him an idea for a comedy about Christmas. Holberg, in turn, tells them about what becomes the Christmas tree and about the mistletoe. Bertramsen just has plans for a mistletoe. But what about his microwaved chicken?

Adventure: Christmas is almost here. The elves and Bertramsen "only" need 150 years of history before they have Christmas in place. But Freja is sad anyway, because she still doesn't know where she comes from. Bertramsen reveals to Miss Brahe why things went wrong between him and his wife 34 years ago. It's something about a Christmas Eve. Guttenborg decides that they must visit a famous writer. Pyrus thinks that sounds boring until he hears that they are going to meet H.C. Andersen in Tivoli. The distracted storyteller feels sorry for the freezing Freja and wishes he had some brimstone. Suddenly he is inspired to a new and sad story. Bertramsen also finds H.C. Andersen's story and is happy because the Christmas tree is mentioned for the first time.

Oh Louise: Now there are only three days left, and Bertramsen is busy with a saw, hammer and a stubborn Christmas tree. Fortunately, Miss Brahe knows where the first-aid kit is. Freya is tired and doesn't feel like going into the story, although Pyrus is impatient to get going. Guttenborg suggests inviting one of his chess comrades, Frederik VII, to visit instead. But when he has said the magic words, Countess Danner appears, and she is immediately suspicious of who Freja is. When the king finally arrives, he is scolded by the countess, until Pyrus points out to the particular lady that she is a guest in the goblin's home. It ends with them all singing a famous Christmas carol together.

Etiquette: Long before it is morning, there is life in the gnome's home. Freja sleepwalks and ends up at Bertramsen's. She tells that she is Xenobia, the goddess of Christmas. Guttenborg and Pyrus manage to save her before Bertramsen wakes up. When Brahe arrives, Bertramsen tells about his "dream". There is a letter from the queen, and Bertramsen has to practice going on royal visits according to all kinds of rules and regulations. This time the goblins visit Emma Gad. She knows a lot about customs and usage at Christmas and about the Christmas brand. She also knows how to get through a door properly, and she tells Pyrus a lot about that in particular, so that he is completely out of breath.

Model Pyrus: Miss Brahe is terribly nervous. Bertramsen is going on a Christmas visit to the queen, and while he is getting ready, he looks at a torn picture of a little red-haired girl. Who is it? In the gnome's home, it is Pyrus and Guttenborg who are nervous. Freja has become very pale, and she speaks so softly that you can hardly hear it. Miss Brahe pushes Bertramsen out the door and reminds him that he is the savior of Christmas. Today, Guttenborg and Pyrus have to go their separate ways. Pyrus reluctantly visits the colour-blind artist Frederik Bramming, who has gone out for ideas for new Christmas things. Fortunately, he is inspired when he sees Pyrus climbing the shelf on his way to the cookies. When Guttenborg and Pyrus return, Freja fades away completely. Is it too late to save her?

"Happy.?". Finally. At long last - the big day has arrived. The day everyone has been waiting for and looking forward to. But Pyrus is so sad that Freya has disappeared. He won't get up even if it's December 24th. At the office, Miss Brahe wakes the national archivist Bertramsen, with whom she has a new relationship, and loudly points out that it is Christmas Eve. When Pyrus sees the big Christmas book, he wants to cast a spell, just like he did the first time Freya appeared. Before Guttenborg can stop him, he has said the magic words, and there is a huge bang. In the office, the Christmas decorations begin to fade away, and Bertramsen discovers that the letters have again disappeared from the pages of the books. Is Christmas over, or are the elves up to one last trick?
