Kitch-iti-kipi is a lake formed by the collapse of a cave in an ancient limestone deposit. It is now fed by a spring that is so active the lake doesn't freeze in winter.
In 1879 William James Beal began an experiment to see how long seeds can remain dormant and still sprout when give the right conditions. The experiment is still going and seeds are still sprouting.
