Alexanders krig

Hvorfor er jeg ikke bange for at dø?
"Why am I not afraid of dying?" Alexander asks his crisis psychologist when he returns home from a trip to Ukraine. For many years, Alexander has put himself in extreme situations to report from the world's hotspots. In February 2022, he will do it again. The war has come to Ukraine, and while most people fear the situation, Alexander is struck by a different feeling. He wants to understand the war and wants to focus on the people caught in the crossfire. But a trip to the front line is dangerous and could cost him his life.

Det er ikke din krig!
Hidden behind the lens, Alexander has always considered evil and meaninglessness. The camera has become his identity and he is convinced that he can make a difference by focusing on injustices. In Ukraine, he has teamed up with an aid NGO that evacuates civilians from the front and has now found a purpose that is bigger than himself. Life at home in Denmark, on the other hand, seems more and more meaningless. But is it even possible to save oneself and others by seeking out the world's hotspots?

Slaget om Bakhmut
"While you're packing your turmeric, there could be an airstrike and we'll all be buried here," an NGO worker shouts to an elderly woman during an evacuation in Bakhmut. In Ukraine, chaos is everyday, also for Alexander, who has PTSD. Life in constant alertness is difficult to reconcile with everyday life in Denmark. It therefore becomes clear to Alexander that his future lies in projects where, with his camera, he can visualize small glimpses of hope and humanity in the midst of the destruction. However, all hope in the Ukraine and for Alexander himself is extinguished when the Russians surround Bakhmut.
