S1.E2 ∙ The Sky is Falling

Mother is a hybrid of fiction and documentary. It is a portrait of the complicated, fragile, painful and realistic relationship between my mother and me. In the past, she once tried to commit suicide. Though the action was failed, she was disabled. Since the incident, my family has changed forever, and the film is my attempt to explore and understand her, myself and my family. To put it in a wider context, I analogically portrayed how Thai middle class family effect- ed by Asian financial crisis in 1997(Tom Yam Kung Crisis) and explored the representation of family in Thai culture through the process of making this film. Thai media always shows Thai family with one dimension : the good and the bad. To understand the society, we need to go to the smallest institution of it : family. What is Thai family? What is its complexities? What are the ways each member deal with the world outside and inside? How does the family go through the radical change both from Thai society and the destiny and they dances around the reality and the fantasy of the familial representation.

A documentary about a village that was during one night in 1947 separated by force into a Soviet and a Czechoslovak part in a way, that the border runs through the middle of the village, separating properties and families.

A suburban housewife takes on the icon of 20th century physics and finds her own miracles along the way.

A poet of forty wanders about the beach, changes his clothes when he feels like it, reads his poetry, reminisces engagingly, and reflects on life. Looking rather like Max Bygraves gone to seed, he keeps up a patter full of original jokes, interspersed with powerful verse about life and death.

September 2013. The Court ruling is reached. Almost a quarter million Dominicans of Haitian descent have just become stateless because of the Dominican Constitutional Tribunal's decision. Identified as scapegoats for all problems affecting the country, they have lost everything: their rights, their liberty, their identity. Presented as a tale and narrated by Haitian poet and playwright Jean-Claude Martineau, this film takes us to the very heart of the human drama lived by these migrants who have sacrificed everything to follow their deem of freedom.

In a last desperate attempt to save the relationship with the man of her life, filmmaker Tatjana Bozic dives into her past and makes a kaleidoscopic journey past her ex-men in order to find out what is wrong with her.
