Summary "American Idol" - Two of 11 Voted Off - March 31, 2011

Ryan tells us 55 million votes came in.

In the audience: Kris Allen

Group Sing: It happens in small groups tonight. First up are Lauren and Scotty, who sing "I Told You So," by Randy Travis and Carrie Underwood. It's live and lovely.

Results: Ryan brings these two up for results and both of them are safe.

Ford Commercial: "Kryptonite," Three Doors Down. There are sci-fi movie style calamities from which several super-powered contestants save their fellow singers.

Ryan chats with the contestants. James shows off some of his fan mail, a custom-made WWE championship belt.

Group sing #2 Naima and Jacob sing Ashford & Simpson's "Solid." They work in a little choreography. It's snazzy and fun if not exactly a vocal knockout.

Results: Naima is in the bottom three and Jacob is safe.

Performance: Fantasia Barrino sings her latest single "Collard Greens and Corn Bread." She has apparently jumped on the retro soul bandwagon. Ryan leads her over post-performance to chat with the aspirants. She tells them to always love the music and surround yourself with good people not just sycophants.

Group Sing #3 Haley, Thia, and Pia and sing Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream." They have no snazzy choreography. It is much less interesting. Thia doesn't get a lead vocal.

Results: Pia and Haley are safe, Thia is in the bottom three.

Video package: A behind the scenes look at a day in the Idol's life from recording in the studio to a performance at Muhammad Ali's Celeb Fight Night in Arizona to the Ford commercial shoot to moving ouf of their leaky house to picking songs to styling to rehearsals with Marc Anthony.

Group Sing #4 The debut of the "band" formed by Stefano, Casey, Paul, and James singing "Band on the Run" by Paul McCartney and Wings. Stefano's on keys, James and Paul on guitar, and Casey on bass. It's pretty fun. Casey's even playing a Hofner bass like Macca. Steven tells them they can open for Aerosmith on their next tour.

Results: Casey, James, and Stefano are safe. Paul is in the bottom three.

Bottom Three: Thia, Paul, and Naima

Performance: Jamie Foxx and will.i.am do a new song called "Hot Wings" from the soundtrack to a movie called "Rio." Hot mess with cool choreography by a cast of dozens of dancers.

Going Home: Thia and Naima
