"American Idol" - Top 11 Results - March 24, 2011
We open with another video package on Motown and a recap of last night leading into the credits.
Ryan tells us that 30 million votes came in and the results might be shocking. He also reminds us that the cut this week is important because only the top 10 go on tour.
Video package: We get a look at Marc Anthony, aka JLo's husband, giving the kids advice on working with in-ear monitors and helping with their pitch. He swears a couple of times. He then judges the judges and their feedback, including some disagreement with his wife. He calls the whole thing a treat.
Group Sing:"Ain't No Mountain High Enough," Marvin & Tammi/The Supremes. As it ends the back walls open up and reveal Stevie Wonder singing "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" behind a keyboard as the kids sing along. And then as a treat for Steven Tyler he sings "Happy Birthday" to him. (His version of "Happy Birthday" not the traditional song). And then they present him with a cake. He's adorably surprised.
Ford Commercial:"All This Beauty," the Weepies. The Idols plant a tree in the rain, it's made of biodegradable trash. (I think?)
Results: Ryan cals up Lauren, Pia, and Scotty. They're all safe.
Performance: Sugarland performs "Stuck Like Glue"
Video Package: Apparently, we need to know all about James,' love of wrestling. Apparently, Paul and Stefano enjoy it also. Then they all "wrestle" at the mansion. James tells Hulk Hogan to watch his back.
Results: Ryan calls up James and Paul. Ryan says they're both "not safe" and then Hulk Hogan emerges and informs them that they are in fact safe. Then he fake punches Ryan and rips his shirt. James is thrilled.
Results: Next up are Jacob, Thia, and Stefano. Jacob is safe, Stefano and Thia are in the bottom three. He then calls Naima, Haley, and Casey. The girls are safe, Casey's the final member of the bottom three.
Performance: Jennifer Hudson sings her new single "Where You At." Ryan and JHud have a little chat and point out George Huff is one of her back-up singers.
Bottom Three: Stefano, Thia, and Casey.
Results: Ryan sends Thia back to safety.
Ryan reveals that Casey in the one potential on the chopping block. He starts singing and the judges cut him off and tell him that he's getting the save. Casey looks like he's going to vomit or have a heart attack. He goes to thank the judges, he can't believe with 11 people left they save him. He apparently swears a lot about it because they keep dropping the audio.
Going Home: No one, because Casey won the save. Next week two will go home.
