Auditions No. 6

Summary "American Idol" - Auditions: Los Angeles- Feb. 3, 2011

We start with a montage of singers who were put through in other cities before we touch down in L.A.

First up is Victoria Garrett who is a true believer in both the lord and herself. That faith is misplaced, at least the latter half.

Tim Halperin is JLo's biggest fan. She likes him too and his rendition of Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved." She and Steven say yes and put him through.

We get a montage of the good and the bad and a litany of technical and catering issues.

We meet friends Daniel Gomez and Isaac Rodriguez. Daniel goes first, unimpressively. Randy calls him relatively tone deaf. Isaac has dropped out of college. This was a bad idea. They both get dismissed. Isaac promises to keep on practicing. Randy tells him this is also a bad idea. They keep their good attitudes though.

On Day 2 we get the invited Myspace auditioners.

Karen Rodriguez impresses with her take on Whitney Houston's "You Give Good Love." She's coming back to Hollywood!

The start of the wacky begins with Tynisha Roches who is very limber and full of personality-- and has her own microphone! What she doesn't have is a good voice. But she's one of those that won't stop singing. She chases Randy around the set singing "And I'm Telling You." Train wreck. She has to be escorted out of the room.

We meet belly dancer Heidi Khzam who Steven and Randy particularly like. She sings Alicia Keys' "Superwoman" competently enough to be put through.

Oddball Matthew Frankel calls himself a force to be reckoned with. Mostly he's actually a bad rapper and singer. He ill-advisedly sings "Jenny From the Block," very poorly. He begs for a chance. JLo tells him to let it go. He promises to come back.

Next up is William Roberts who is also not good in his own special screamy way. As is Jeannette Manning. Will they ever show us someone who can sing? Not judging by Daniel Hall, Anthony Granger, or Arista Pemberton.

Finally, we meet brothers Mark and Aaron Gutierrez. They do a duet of Bill Withers' "Lean On Me." They're a little too cutesy with their banter, but they sound great. Everybody loves it, Steven thinks it was "God-like." They're both going to Hollywood.

We get the nightly montage of no's and tears.

We're introduced to the night's wackiest aspirant Cooper Robinson. He's 59 and clearly out of his mind. He "sings" James Brown's "I Feel Good" and is kind of scary. They're speechless. He leaves. He then rants and is even scarier.
