Summary Ryan starts off the night reporting that last week's Idol Gives Back raised over $45 million dollars. (To celebrate, he appears to have worn an extra-shiny suit.)

Tonight is the music of Shania Twain, who is of course, in the audience. We re-meet Shania with a look back through her 15 year career as the biggest crossover country-pop artist. Her third album "Come on Over," with 34 million copies, is the best selling album ever by a woman in any genre.

We revisit her guest judging in Chicago and see some mentoring clips. Ryan pulls her out of the audience and says she thought it might be hard for the guys to sing a girl's songs, but they did great.

Roll mentoring. She starts with Lee, who she saw in Chicago. He's singing "You're Still the One." She advises him to lose the guitar, but he takes the stage with it.

Randy Jackson calls it one of his favorite songs of all time and says Lee found it a way to make it his own half-way through. Ellen thinks every song sounds like his own and he "couldn't look cuter." Kara thinks his voice makes every song sound relevant. Simon calls it "the perfect song" from Shania but says he was making weird faces. The music cuts Simon off and he barks at Kara for interrupting him. Same old shtick.

Ryan mentions the American Idols Live tour will go on sale May 14.

We see Mike sing "It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing." She advises him to try to feel it. He sings the heart broken ballad.

Randy thinks the balladeer suits him. Ellen compares him to Luther Vandross and felt his emotions. Kara commends him for seeming connected to the songs when he sings and says he changed the song just enough. Simon seconds the Luther comparison, but calls the performance "wet." The other judges ask what the heck he means. "It was a little bit girly for you," he says.

Shania says he got her choked up and calls for make-up.

Casey James is up next and sits down with Ryan. Ryan reminds him of Simon calling him "lazy" and Casey promises to switch it up.

In the mentoring, Shania thinks he's lacking inner confidence. He's singing "Don't." He says he's more excited about this performance than any. "It's a 'singing song', I don't think I've sang yet."

He performs with his guitar (and his lustrous hair).

Randy calls it one of his best performances. Ellen thought it really suited him and was his best. Kara commends him for being vulnerable and raw. Simon thinks last week was a good wake-up call for Casey and this was his best performance so far and suggests he give Shania a kiss. (They hug.)

Crystal sits down with Ryan. She mentions Shania's constant glow and calls her "super sweet."

Crystal's singing "No One Needs to Know." Shania suggests she sing a big happier. Crystal says it's a song for her boyfriend. "He'll man up one of these days," she giggles. (The song is about a woman singing to her boyfriend to hurry up and propose.)

She performs with the band and the audience claps along.

Randy liked the acoustic version and commends her for doing a country version of Shania's country song. Ellen says again there's nothing she can't do, but it wasn't her favorite ("but that's like saying what's your favorite color of the rainbow?") Kara echoes their comments and Crystal notes that it just wasn't as big a performance and bigger isn't always better. Simon stops chuckling long enough to call it "limp" and compares it to a coffee shop band performance. He says it lacked conviction and calls it forgettable, but says he still likes her.

As for the lack of conviction: they zoom in on Crystal's boyfriend in the audience.

On to Aaron, who's singing "You Got Away." Shania thinks he sounds preoccupied and tells him to sing with conviction.

He performs.

Randy says he was in his wheelhouse and Ellen says this is going to be a tough elimination week. Kara totally agrees and says he really felt it (and changed a line from "when we make love," which is good since he says he was singing to his mom). Simon, on the other hand, thinks he struggled the last two weeks but tonight he was like a different artist.

Siobhan is last and is singing "Any Man of Mine." Shania urges her to put some attitude into the lyrics.

She sings.

Randy loved it. Ellen gets pun-y saying: "Way to pull the Shania Twain into the station." Simon liked it, but didn't love the screaming at the end.

Then it's recap time and Ryan tells us tomorrow Shakira will drop by. The end.
