Summary
"American Idol" - "Hollywood Round: Part 4" - Feb. 17, 2010
We get a quick recap of last night and the seven contestants who have already secured a spot and a promise of the reveal of the final 17 in the top 24.
Which means we get a look at the Hollywood Week and final performances of the people facing final judgement.
We catch up with a nervous Janell Wheeler. Her last solo performance of "Love Story" was troublesome and she felt like she flubbed it. Ellen talks a little bit about the stress of the show but tells her she's still going through. She tells Ryan she's not worried about her job as a wine sales rep.
Next up is a recap for Tyler Grady. His final performance of "Home" seems fine but he jokes that he doesn't want to go home. He sits for final judgement and banters with Kara about loving '60s and '70s rock icons. He's through. Lacey Brown who made it final judgement last year, only to be sent home gets better news this year and she's through thanks to her final performance of "What a Wonderful World."
Also through are Ashley Rodgriguez, Alex Lambert, and Joe Munoz, who we get in quick succession without any recap.
Up next Crystal Bowersox. She's had a great week and she's through. She shows her son's picture to the judges.
More stress in the waiting room.
Katie Stevens who has been impressive all along, is through.
We get a quick succession of four nos.
It's also a no for a teary Angela Martin who has tried out three times and had an up and down Hollywood Week. This is especially tough news for her since she made it to Hollywood twice before but the first year she tried out, her dad died, the second year she had to bail because she had a traffic violation she couldn't pay for so she had to do six days in jail. Kara sits with her and encourages her to keep going and Randy agrees. Kara calls her one of the bravest people she's ever met. They all hug her. She promises not to give up.
It is a yes for jazzy Lilly Scott though. She's stoked to show America what she's got.
A quick montage reveals more good news for Paige Miles, (who I feel like we haven't met), Siobhan Magnus, Michelle Delamor, Jermaine Sellers, and John Park
There are only two girls left, Tori Kelly and Haeley Vaughn, and one spot left. Haeley gets it.
Now there are two guys left, Andrew Garcia and Thaddeus Johnson, so you know how this went given how much they loved Andrew, who gets the nod. Thaddeus is sad. Simon tells him he didn't do anything wrong and tells him to keep his chin up. He doesn't understand this, understandably. Andrew is, understandably, excited.
We get a montage of celebratory moments.
Live shows start next week! First up will be the girls.
