Summary
"American Idol" - Top Seven Results - April 14, 2009
Ford Commercial: "Freeze Frame," J. Geils Band. The gang dances and sings the song on the covers of magazines.
Group Sing: "Maniac," Michael Sembello. They're still singing live and it sounds fine. Kris and Allison attack the judges. Anoop almost trips on the stair. Matt meets them on the platform behind the judges. Kara and Paula are rocking out. Adam and Danny join in from the balconies. Lil struts across the stage where they all do the high school musical thing.
Video Package: We watch the gang attend the "17 Again" premiere. Zac Efron is in the audience.
Results: Allison and Adam are safe. Anoop is in the bottom three.
Video Package: We get a recap of Jennifer Hudson's career from "Idol" to "Dreamgirl" to her solo album.
Performance: Jennifer Hudson, "If This Isn't Love." She looks great and she sounds wonderful. The song's not amazing but it's got a good hook and she's making the most of it. (She's singing to a track though. Her band couldn't make it?) She and Ryan banter about the Grammys and her current tour with Robin Thicke.
Results: Kris is safe, Lil and Matt are in the bottom three. (Simon, since he didn't get to talk the night before tells Kris he was brilliant.) Anoop is sent to safety.
Performance: Miley Cyrus, "The Climb." Shrouded in fog, Miley sings her song about self-empowerment and enjoying the journey. She sounds fine, better than some of the contestants did last night. No reference at all to "Hannah Montana" despite the fact that "The Climb" is from the "Hannah Montana the Movie" soundtrack AND that movie's in theaters now.
Going Home: No one. The judges use their save on Matt. As the others come to hug him Simon points out the downside. Next week two people will go home and it's disco week.
