Summary Iceland is shocked when Isolda Thorsdóttir, its world-unique 'elves guardian', officially charged with the interests of the mystical nature spirits is fatally shot, in an elves park. When crime author Solveig Karlsdóttir, from capital Reykjavik, accompanies investigating commissioner Finsen there, they find and disarm a small girl holding the murder-pistol. Solveig tries to win the confidence of Yrsa, who seems too much afraid to come clean even to mother Rósa Gunlaugsdottir about the killing. Her own demented, elves-obsessed mother helps Solveig research the 'mythical elves dimension', and find out who had an interest in eliminating their guardian.
