S1.E21 ∙ The Assassination of Mahatma Gandhi - New Delhi, 1948

"Groundhog" Spence slays Jed McCoy's father and marries Mrs. McCoy to obtain her lands rich in coal. Jed loves Spence's niece, Emmy Lou, an attractive orphan who teaches him to read and write. Spence forces Emmy Lou to marry his son Aaron. Someone in an angry mob of hillsmen shoots Aaron while attempting to drive out swindlers who want the coal lands. Jed is charged with the killing but is acquitted. Anticipating an acquittal, Groundhog attempts to escape before Jed is freed, but Jed chases him to a raft on a river, and there Spence is drowned. The raft collapses, and Jed is rescued by Emmy Lou. The last reel contains a thrilling fight scene on board the makeshift raft as it dashes unguided downstream toward the rapids.

While working as a sea rescuer, Katharina Venner finds a young woman, Annika Bohn, murdered at sea. Katharina is shocked: her husband Nils is arrested as the main suspect. Nils was on the beach with Annika on the night of death and was so drunk that he cannot remember. But murder? Unthinkable! Katharina knows the dead woman, she was a guest in her parents' hotel. Since the police only seem to be investigating Nils, they start investigating.

His ray of light comes in the form of a curvy blonde named Alicia, who recruits Dan to join her blackjack card counting team for a one night Las Vegas score. Dan accepts the offer and meets Thomas, a Texas cowboy with a violent past. Alicia trains Dan and Thomas in the art of card counting and as the team hits the felt in Sin City, we learn that the perfect crime isn't so perfect. When things go from bad to worse, Dan will find out the hard way that with millions up for grabs, the only question is, who's playing who?
