Summary Robin Scott is hired to recover a fabulous ruby stolen in Burma by a fabled robber baron, Kang. With the help of Dau, friend of anyone with money, Robin contrives to be captured by Kang who gives Robin only one slim chance to live--a to man fight to the death. Robin prevails, then discovers the Chieftan does not have the ruby. Kang, angered at whoever made him scapegoat for both the ruby's theft and the murder of a fruit vendor, will let Robin go free only when Robin promises to tell him the name of the culprit. With Dau's help, Robin finds his quarry. Nor does Robin forget his promise to the robber Chieftan.
