Summary Maria do Carmo is a widow who takes care of her young son. Her brother-in-law Lindomar goes to live with her, but is a violent, evil man. Maria decides to flee, but Lindomar finds out and kills her. Later, the son is sent to a boys home after being caught stealing cell phones during Carnaval.
