Summary June 8, 2017: In rural New Florence, Missouri, reptile breeder Benjamin Renick aka Ben Renick is found dead in his snake facility, surrounded by his collection of exotic snakes. Investigators first assume that he is a victim of one of his snakes, until the coroner finds a bullet shell casing at the scene. Dozens of potential suspects are investigated before finding a text chain from Ben that leads to the killer, Ben's wife, Lynlee Renick. Her ex-boyfriend, Michael Humphrey, was also arrested. After their arrests in 2020, they pointed the finger at each other. In 2022, Lynlee (the mastermind) was convicted and sentenced to 16 years in prison for her husband's murder. Also in 2022, Michael Humphrey (the gunman) was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
