Summary Sami witnesses Petra Meister being abused by two men on the banks of the Elbe in the evening. When Sami tries to protect the woman, a fight breaks out and he shoots one of the two attackers in self-defense. The other perpetrator initially escapes, but is arrested after a short manhunt. When confronted, however, the victim suddenly claims not to recognize the attacker and notorious petty criminal Boris Frennzel. Sami, who is plagued by severe feelings of guilt and trauma because of the fatal shot, becomes more and more entangled in the case. In the end, the WaPo investigation reveals that Petra Meister is a victim in two senses of the word and is prepared to do anything for the well-being of her ten-year-old daughter Romy in order to remove her from the dangerous influence of her father Ralf Steiger.
