Summary Chance explains why even though the Arno kids are talented and/or pretty, they try not to call any attention to themselves (even if that means losing a race on purpose). A warning fax is sent to the school. When Miss Collins (Heather Beers) is murdered at the children's school, Danny masquerades as a substitute teacher in order to investigate. The prime suspect is Kent Kessler aka the shooter (Tim Redwine) who got teased too much over the years and had a crush on Ms. Collinsand it doesnt help when a rifle is found in his locker. Barbara is uneasy about the kids going to school and helping Danny. Celeste tries to get close to Kent but he is mean and she storms off. He also makes fun of other students. Danny tells him to stop, and Kent storms out of the classroom and cuts himself (not for the first time) in the boys room. Addie (Lauren Hodges) is filming / interviewing the students and staff about the attackswhat do they think, are they afraid, etc. Another warning fax comes in and the vice principal calls a code red (lock down); Dannys name is at the top of the list. Addie has a secret but she wont tell Danny. Kent gets drunk and tries to hang himself. When a second teacher becomes ill, Evan Pallin, the security guard (Steve Rankin) drives the teacher to the hospital. However, the reporters get to the hospital before anyone from the school does and yet no one called 911. (This rules out the reporters listening to the police scanners so how did they get there so fast??) Celeste finds out that Kent was being taunted by Evan. Addie tells Ruby that she sent the first fax but not the second one (she wanted a sensational story). A newspaper comes out with Danny as the hero for saving the teachers life. Evan is angry because Danny got the credit and not him. Danny confronts Evan about alerting the press so they would show up at the hospital before themhopefully so Evan would get the hero credit. Danny taunts Evan about him being useless and screwing up the first rescue (he poisoned Ms. Collins so he could rescue her and get the hero credit, but failed because he couldn't swim and she drowned). Evan and Danny tussle and fall into the pool. Kent hears Evan yelling for help. He pulls an unconscious Danny out of the pool and gives him CPR. Evan makes it to the side of the pool with the help of a life preserver.
