Summary
The Arnos are still in Las Vegas, where Danny's assignment--to protect Ed Linson, a casino owner and former mobster who's been cooperating with the FBI--has taken a turn for the worse. Without telling Danny, Linson has sold his casino to known mobster Lon Columby (Paul Hipp), and has now mysteriously gone missing. What's the real story behind the sale? Mary vows to do something about her being dirty. The sale means Columby is now the boss at the nightclub where Danny's been resurrecting his lounge act. One of Columby's first moves is to fire Danny.
Now Columby is bringing in his old Mob cronies (Mike Dulgarifat one: Billy Gardell, Stevie Christmasshort one: John Mariano, Jimmy Caccone: David Lee Smith) to help him create his vision of a new (and Mafia-controlled) Las Vegas Lon wants to build a new casino / mall about 15 miles out of Vegas. Danny appeals to Ellen Lederer (Jodi Russell), another FBI agent who's been working the casino, for help, but her personal relationship with Columby may get in the way of bringing him to justice.
Barbara and the kids return to Vegas as the rule is never leave your partner without back-up. Barbara goes to look for Danny and runs into Mary Columby. The best hope for stopping Lon might just be his mother. Mary already knew Danny was a fed. Mary refuses to testify against Lonshe doesnt want to spend the rest of her life in witness protection. However, she offers a solution. If the cronies Lon brought in think Lon is scamming them, they will turn on Lon. They are legit and dont want to get into anything illegal. There doesnt need to be a true scam, just create an atmosphere of distrust. While investigating the scam, Lon, the three cronies, and Mary find Danny and Barbara murdered in their bed. Mary implies that Lon is the murderer.
The three crones are interviewed by the gaming commission and questioned about their relationships with Lon and his involvement of Dannys first partners death, Linsons disappearance and where Danny is. Lon figures they sold him out takes them out to the desert and tries to kill them when Danny shows up. Two out of three of them are shot. Lon, shot and bleeding, returns to Mary claiming not to know why they sold him out and how Danny is involved. Mary explains about Lon killing Dannys old partner. Mary ends up killing Lon.
