Summary In the run-up to the Cottbus Carnival, the Pole Jurek Bukol, a float builder, is found dead in his workshop under mysterious circumstances. Detective Inspector Vincent Ross is informed by his Cottbus colleague Alexandra Luschke. Together with Karl Rogov, who supports him from the station in Swiecko, they take over the further investigation. A fire in Bukol's workshop not only led to his death, but also destroyed his float for the carnival parade. Bukol's family is in shock. His ex-wife Petra and his two children, Dawid and Krystina, had invited Jurek to a family celebration the evening before. But he didn't come. Jurek Bukol was generally considered a troublemaker and often got into fights with those around him. The investigators are wondering whether there were arguments within the family and to what extent a trial two years ago in which Bukol was convicted could have something to do with his death? The case leads Ross and Luschke into a world of mutual dependencies, favoritism and ominous machinations - right in the middle of the carnival season.
