Summary Shona is in custody but her mental instability makes her a very difficult subject to interview. Everyone in the station apart from Mel seems to want to get shot of her as quickly as possible. Mel's bravery in disarming her leads to the press wanting to interview her and talk of a commendation. Colin's harassment of his wife's boyfriend causes her to burn his belongings. Katie Brydon offers to give Roy a photo album containing pictures of his children's biological father but Roy is not happy and refuses it.After work Mel goes to a pub where she knows Roy is to discuss Shona and his recent out-of-character behaviour. Roy tells her that he is grieving for his dead wife and that she has become too emotionally involved with the troubled Shona. Mel surmises that he thinks she is in the wrong job and she seems to concede that he may be right. She then drives off and the impression is given that she may well decide to resign from the force.
